The cinematography (gorgeous long takes) and sound design were outstanding.
But the editing? It kills me when a film with such beautiful aesthetic is cheapened by overdone “experimental thriller” editing techniques.

12:32 5notes Spoke with my internship advisor about where to turn for my (apparently esoteric) interest in film archiving…
So they suggested going to the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY.  I never even dreamt of being worthy of working in such a place, yet here one of the most important people at my college is telling me to apply to intern there. That or Library of Congress, he says.
Within 30 minutes, all my visions of living in Chicago forever were dented. Nothings happened yet, but it’s a lot to think about. Rochester? Also, GRAD SCHOOL? In film preservation? As he described the innerworkings of the Eastman house, I knew that it was what I wanted to do all along.

it’s an early 1930s animation by my man Len Lye to the most excellent tune, “The Peanut Vendor”
but agreed, it’s pretty creepy.
